"WEEKEND IN III REICH HEADQUARTER - WOLF'S LAIR"

Pic 1

Go on a weekend exploration of Hitler's largest commanding headquarters, "The Wolf's Lair".

The plans to build the bunker were made in 1940, in preparation for the invasion of the Soviet Union. This complex consists of:

1. Wolf's Lair - Hitler's main headquarters,

2. Headquarters of the head of the Reich Chancellery, Hans Lammers,

3. Headquarters of the chief of the Supreme High Command of the German Army, OKH,

4. Headquarters of the Foreign Minister of Nazi Germany, Joachim von Ribbentrop,

5. Headquarters of the chief of the SS and police, Heinrich Himmler,

6. Offices of Reinhard Gehlen, chief of Foreign Armies East military intelligence,

7. Headquarters of the Air Force High Command, OKL,

8. Headquarters of the Abwehr - focused on sabotage, "Walli - II",

9. Headquarters of Hermann Goring, "Robinson".

During about three-day journey spent in the Masurian nature, you will explore the most impressive and best-preserved bunkers there. 30 of them belonged to the OKH. The OKH avoided being blown up and still stands to this day in very good condition. They are located several kilometres away from the main complex - the Wolf's Lair. These were Hitler's main headquarters and they were the location of one of the most famous assassination attempts on the Furher's life. The assassination was being carried out on the 20th of July 1944 by German officer, Claus von Stauffenberg.

Unfortunately, the whole complex (approximately 80 bunkers) was blown up by the Germans as they abandoned it as their headquarters however the remaining ruins make a great impression on visitors.

On the journey, you will also find the bunker of Heinrich Himmler, the chief of the SS and the police as well as a giant water navigation lock built by the Nazi on the Masurian Canal. The lock and canal system was meant to ensure a strategic path, by water, to the Baltic Sea. The programme includes Modlin Fortress and Boyen Fortress from the 19th century. Modlin Fortress's barracks are the longest building in Europe! That's not all. You will all get to try out hand at a shooting range in Lomza Fortress and then enjoy an evening by a bonfire with grilled food and snacks.
